Using P-EBT Food Benefits Will Not Risk Your Immigration Status

P-EBT benefits are safe to use for you and your family members. Getting P-EBT benefits does not make you a public charge, and the program does not report your information to immigration services.

Each Eligible Child Gets Their Own Benefits

For school children, benefits will be based on the number of days the student did not attend school in person due to COVID-19. This may be determined by enrollment in Independent Study (California's version of virtual learning) or if an otherwise eligible student had at least five excused absences in a month.*

*If the school-aged child had less than five excused absences in a month but met the other conditions listed, they may still be eligible for P-EBT 4.0 benefits. Please contact the P-EBT Helpline at 1-877-328-9677 (M–F from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.) to see if they’re eligible.

Every Child Gets
Their Own Card

Families with multiple children will receive multiple cards. If they do not arrive at the same time, do not worry. Cards are mailed out in groups based on age and first name.

Payment Accepted
In-store and Online

The same places that take CalFresh will take P-EBT. This includes: most grocery stores, farmers markets, and online retailers, like Amazon^®. Just like with CalFresh, foods that are served hot or already prepared (like takeout or food bars) are NOT covered.
